BYD presents new electric cars – and a plug-in hybrid
Chinese car manufacturer BYD presented eight models at the Geneva Motor Show, including its first plug-in hybrid model for Europe. However, the PHEV offshoot of the Seal U will only be sold in selected markets.
Mercedes shelves plans to release EQE SUS in China
Mercedes-Benz has shelved its plan to introduce a mix of sedan and SUV in China with the EQE SUS. It is apparently too complex and expensive. The first pure Chinese Mercedes will therefore not be launched on the market (for the time being).
Hyundai to cut N label combustion vehicles from lineup
This month, Hyundai discontinued production of its sporty N models with combustion engines for Europe. In future, there will only be electric cars under the N performance label in Europe – starting with the Hyundai Ioniq 5 N.
Lotus Technology makes stock market debut in the USA
Lotus Technology, part of the Geely brand Lotus, has completed its public listing, which was announced around a year ago. The company merged with a shell company and was valued at around 7 billion US dollars as part of the SPAC deal.
Rimac ends cooperation with Camel Group
The Croatian electric sports car manufacturer Rimac no longer wants to cooperate with the Chinese battery manufacturer Camel Group. Camel is facing accusations by the US government of using Uyghur forced labour in China.
Ineos unveils Fusilier electric off-road vehicle
Ineos Automotive has unveiled the electrically powered Fusilier – the off-road brand’s third model. The new off-road vehicle has two drive options: a fully electric drive and an electric drive with range extender.
Swiss electric scooter Microlino gets L6e variant
The Swiss company Micro Mobility Systems is presenting the Microlino Lite, an L6e version of its electric cabin scooter. Available in two colour variants, the mini electric scooter is now available to order. The sales launch is scheduled for early summer.
BYD launches electric super sports car with 960 kW
BYD has unveiled its first battery-electric super sports car under its Yangwang brand. The Yangwang U9 has four motors, each with an output of 240 kW – totalling 960 kW. Prices and the Chinese market launch date are also available.
