The Brandenburg Ministry of the Environment has granted Tesla another preliminary approval for its factory construction in Grünheide. This involves further work on an area of around 80 hectares that has already been cleared.
In the past months, Tesla had cleared the additional forest area on the site of the future electric car factory in Grünheide. With the preliminary approval granted on Wednesday, the company is now allowed to remove up to 30 centimetres of the remaining forest soil and subsequently level the areas. However, the final environmental approval for the factory is still pending.
According to the German publication RBB, Tesla wants to set up office containers for engineers there and also temporarily store parts of the production machines until they are installed. According to the report, this is already the tenth preliminary approval Tesla has received from the Brandenburg Ministry of the Environment – more than any other company to date. According to a report from Heise, it is already the eleventh advance approval.
Other pre-approvals already applied for are still being examined by the authorities. This concerns the early start for the construction of underground pipelines. Tesla continues to build on the basis of preliminary approvals. When a final permit will be issued is still under review, according to a spokesperson for the State Environmental Agency.
